Sharon Marcella Marston

Thank you and welcome to my website. I grew up in New England and chose to stay here to raise my family. I have an amazing husband and two great kids. I graduated from Maine College of Art in Portland Maine in May of 1995. My major was ceramics and I had an extensive experience with the art of jewelry making and metalsmithing. I still do both pottery and jewelry design, but my main focus right now is with brush and canvas.

My surroundings inspire me and the work I create. All things in nature fascinate me. Finding the beauty within is what makes my life as an artist fulfilling. When I paint, I become a part of the world on the canvas. I try to produce a mood with color line and depth to give my subject a life and a meaning. I want my paintings to be immediately understood by the viewer, but I also want that person to linger and discover the intricate details that may be missed if the subject were to be seen in real life.

The job of the artist is to uncover the hidden potential of a subject. I consider it an honor to be able to create new ways for people to see what they already think they know. I thank God daily for the world He created with so many wonderful and interesting things for me to paint, and the talent He gave me to do so.
